Sabbath at Home: Weekly Guide (6-27-2025)

Prepared for CHCMW House Church Worship

1. Opening Scripture

“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.”

— James 5:14–15

“The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.”

This promise of healing isn’t limited to large churches or public gatherings. Even when there is no elder present, even when you are simply gathered as a family, Jesus hears your prayer.

2. Message: Jesus Heals in Your Home, Too

When a family member becomes sick, it is natural to worry, to fear, and sometimes to feel helpless. But Jesus said:

“Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

— Matthew 18:20

This means that even a small prayer gathering in your living room is enough for Jesus to draw near with healing power.

Jesus healed in people’s homes. He never required a temple or ritual performance. In fact:

“Jesus went into Peter’s house and saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. He touched her hand and the fever left her…”

— Matthew 8:14–15

Jesus continues to enter homes today. When you invite Him, He comes with healing in His hands.

3. How to Pray as a Family for the Sick

You do not need to be a professional pastor. Jesus listens to a child’s voice, to a mother’s tears, and to a family’s united faith.

You may use these simple steps:

Gather quietly as a family, lay hands gently on the sick person if possible.

Read scripture aloud, such as:

Psalm 103:2–3: “He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.”

Isaiah 53:5: “By His wounds we are healed.”

Jeremiah 17:14: “Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed.”

Pray in the Name of Jesus, with trust, even if it’s a short prayer:

“Lord Jesus, we ask for Your healing hand upon our beloved [Name]. Come into this home with Your mercy and power. Amen.”

If you are moved, anoint with oil as a symbol of faith (olive oil is sufficient).

4. Jesus Will Not Ignore You

Some may wonder: “Is my home too small? Is our faith too weak?”

But Jesus said:

“Only believe, and she will be healed.” — Luke 8:50

“Your faith has made you well.” — Mark 5:34

He heals not because we are strong, but because He is loving.

5. Suggested Worship Song

“He Touched Me” – by Bill Gaither

A beautiful hymn about the healing touch of Jesus. It is gentle, emotional, and fits home worship well.

You can listen here: YouTube – He Touched Me

6. Closing Scripture and Encouragement

“I am the Lord, who heals you.”

— Exodus 15:26

“Bless the Lord, O my soul… who heals all your diseases.”

— Psalm 103:2–3

When you pray as a family, heaven listens.

When you whisper His name, Jesus is already near.

Final Words:

Even in a small house, even in a quiet corner, the Lord Jesus is powerful to heal.

Continue to believe, continue to pray, and continue to trust:

Jesus walks with your family.

The Worth of a Home Church
